From 1992 to 1997 he studied international agriculture at Witzenhausen (Kassel University, Germany) and completed his post-graduate studies with a Master in Land and Water Management of Cranfield University (Silsoe College), UK.
Christoph has a special interest in organic farming, soil conservation and enhancement of soil fertility. He worked on an organic farm that doubled the humus content in its soils from 2 to 4%. Christoph is a member of EkoConnect – an association facilitating the inter-professional exchange of actors in organic value chains. He is also a board member of Agrecol, a network of professionals in agriculture who are interested in the intersection of farming, ecology and social sustainability.
In Ghana, Christoph is currently working for the Market Oriented Agriculture Programme (MOAP) which is jointly implemented by MoFA and GIZ. His work in MOAP is to support those services which fruit value chains require, among others soil fertility extension. Together with Dr. Edward Yeboah and Holger Kahl, he published the “Soil Testing Guide” on the basis of which over 60 Soil Testing Consultants have been trained between 2012 and 2013. It focuses on the mandate crops of MOAP, maize, pineapples, mangoes and citrus, but can be also adapted for other crops.
